Chemical Peel
A chemical peel is a safe and controlled treatment that uses exfoliating acids applied to the skin to treat concerns like pigmentation, acne, scarring, ageing, rough texture, pores etc. Chemical peels leave the skin looking radiant and feeling fresh. The chemical acids applied to the skin breakdown the bonds between the skin cells. This allows for exfoliation or peeling of the skin to occur, which results in resurfacing. This removes the old, damaged skin and stimulates the new epidermal growth.
We pre-treat the skin with home-use skincare before applying the acid for a predetermined length of time. The strength of the acid varies and can be layered in order to increase its depth of effect. Some peels require a neutraliser application afterwards to stop its action and others are self-neutralising.

After the peel soothing products are applied, sunblock is essential. Peels are not painful. They vary from a warm sensation to a prickly sensation. Peeling is not always obvious but peeling in sheets of skin is not ideal for most patients. We commonly treat the face, neck, back, decolletage and hands. We can treat any area of skin that has acne, scarring, pigmentation or ageing changes.
Before having a chemical peel, you will have an assessment of your skin by your doctor or skin therapist. If necessary, you will be started on topical skin care which will facilitate the best results and decrease the risk of unwanted side effects.
